Purpose of the PTSA:
to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and, to raise the standards of home life. We work with state and national PTA to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth. We strive for a closer relation with the home and the school, so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth and we hope to develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youths the highest advantages in physical, mental, and social education.

Some things we do:
Throughout the year, we have the opportunity to interact with the entire student body and all of the staff and faculty at GHS.
That is over 1900 students and adults. GHS PTSA provides class T-shirts at no cost to every freshman at GHS. Our hospitality committee holds events such as the Staff Back to School Breakfast, Thanksgiving Pies for Teachers, and the End of School Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. GHS PTSA provides three scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors thru our local unit, the council unit and state PTA. This year we also provided scholarships to the Catalyst SAT Prep course.
Your PTSA also sponsors the National Reflections Fine Arts completion and UIL Academic competitions for all students grades 9-12. We also are now the sponsor of the "Rising Stars" Academic Excellence Banquet honoring the top 10% of the senior class and the teachers who have inspired them.
Eagle FISH Camp
Teachers need Kleenex too. We held a parent supported gathering of tissues to stock the classrooms for the year.
